I just can't wait, in 43 days and change the first big screen RLSH movie will make it's premier. What will this mean for the RLSH community? A big boost in membership? More criticism about their unorthodox actions? Absolutely nothing?
Looking back at movie trends, films based in reality have more of an impact then fantasy. Sure sure I know someone is going to point out the legions of fans that dress up like Storm Troopers, or Vulcan's. But until those people start building a space station or interstellar space craft they are in a separate category.
Take a look at the Dirty Harry films of the 1970's and 80's. After these films became popular the famous hand gun he carried the 44 magnum became one of the best selling fire arms of the period. In fact so much so the market is still flooded with unused models. After the release of every Disney movie with a dog featured people run out and purchase one of those sweet and funny animals. Then promptly after it is no longer a puppy and considered "cute" off to the pound it goes.
Kick-Ass is interesting as this is art imitating life which is imitating art.
Will this movie result in hundreds of new RLSH members taking to the street? Or will this be just a movie that will be forgotten in a year and sit in a dust covered box next to the Electra movie at the local video barn?
